Ever wondered if a magnum really does taste better than a standard bottle? On Thursday 27th August, we're finding out — and you're invited. Join us at Wildes for our third Champagne Tasting Evening — a rare and exclusive opportunity to compare standard bottles side-by-side against magnums from one of Champagne's most historic houses, Pol Roger. These evenings aren't about making money for us — they're about giving people the chance to experience genuinely lovely Champagnes they might not otherwise get to try, poured properly and shared with others who appreciate them. You'll start the evening with a glass of Chablis on arrival to cleanse the palate, setting you up perfectly for the tastings ahead. On the night, we'll be tasting: 🍾 Pol Roger Réserve — the house's signature style, crisp and elegant 🍾 Pol Roger Vintage — a step up in depth and complexity 🍾 Pol Roger Winston Churchill — the prestige cuvée, named after Sir Winston himself, a devoted Pol Roger fan Each will be poured from both standard and magnum formats, so you can taste the difference for yourself — magnums are known to age more gracefully and often show more finesse, but don't just take our word for it. Sharing boards are included on the night too, so you'll have some lovely nibbles to enjoy alongside each pour.
